Draznak

Katherine M. “Teta” Katie

Age 90, Katherine M. “Katie” Draznak, entered eternity on the Feast of St. Nicholas, December 6, 2022, surrounded by her family and the dedicated and caring staff of Vincentian Home. Loving sister to her remaining sibling and best buddy, Sr. Regina Marie Draznak, OSF. Devoted aunt of Margie (Tom) Loritz, Carol (Harry) Scherer, Monica Sajko, Tom Haffey and Brian (Diane) Haffey. Proud great-aunt of Christina (Justin) Delecki, Jonathan Loritz, Harry Leo Scherer, and Katelyn, Abigail, Connor and Tristan Haffey. Super-proud great-great aunt of Callum Delecki. Adopted aunt to Susanne Kimberland-Vitucci (Bill). Katie was preceded in death by her parents George and Catherine Draznak, sisters Rosalia, Marie “Mitzie,” and Helen Draznak,  Margaret Sajko (Eugene), Theresa Haffey (Tom), uncle, Joseph Spehar, as well as nieces Jean Marie and Mary Catherine Sajko and nephew, Tom Sajko. Up until 2004 when it closed, Katie was a devoted life-long member of St. Nicholas Church on East Ohio Street, North Side, and was a devoted servant who cleaned and cared for the church for decades. It is not lost on our family that both Katie and her sister, Helen – sometimes called “twins born two years apart” – were both called home to God on the Feast of St. Nicholas, December 6th – only it was 11 years apart. Our family would like to extend our sincerest gratitude to the dedicated and caring staff at Vincentian Home where Katie resided for the past five years.

Expressions of sympathy may be directed to Vincentian Home, 8250 Babcock Blvd., Pittsburgh, PA 15237 or online at www.vcs.org. We would also like to thank the caring staff of Bridges Hospice who showed tender care to our Teta in the final days of her life. Katie’s entire life was truly one of service, always ready to help, no matter what! Well done, good and faithful servant, our dear, dear Teta Katie.

Friends will be received on Friday 2-4 & 6-8PM at DEVLIN FUNERAL HOME, INC. 806 Perry Hwy., Ross Twp. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday 10AM in St. Boniface Church, 2208 East St., Pgh, PA 15212.

    Dear Carol and families
My deepest condolences; Losing a loved one is never easy… Teta had a big heart. I treasure many memories, I always tried to make her sit next to me to take coffee after leaving mass in the chapel of Saint Anthony and She always smiled. Marilyn Aulacio

Carol, Monica & Margie and families – so sorry to hear of the loss of Katie. (Patty Pugel Ansorge let me know.) I remember seeing Katie & Helen at Grandma Catherine Spehar Muhich’s house or just around the North HIlls area. Such a lovely woman. My love to all, especially Sr Regina whom I also remember from my childhood. Barb
