Age 80, of Seven Fields, passed away in the Lord’s arms on Tuesday, November 16, 2021 in the comfort of his home. Born August 30, 1941, son of the late Lawrence T. And Patricia M. McClain. Beloved husband of the late Joy McClain, whom he married on May 16, 1992. Joy preceded him in death on January 7, 2020; loving father of Larry (Andrea) McClain Jr., Jennifer, Heather (Mike), Erinn, Rick, and Joey Kennedy; dear grandpa of ten, and great-grandpa of two.
Retired United States Postal Service career that spanned 40 years. Starting In 1961 as a substitute clerk and was the first part-time employee to ever be promoted to supervisor in Pittsburgh. He carried mail and worked, too, as a Mail Handler; he also served as a substitute clerk on the railway system between Pittsburgh and New York City for some period of time.
In Pittsburgh he was the Manager of Mail Processing before being promoted in 1986 to Director of City Operations, PCES, at Harrisburg PA. From there, he was promoted to MSC Manger/Postmaster, Lancaster PA and on to Regional Logistics Manager at the Eastern Region in Philadelphia.
In 1992 he was promoted home to Pittsburgh as PCES District Manager Lead, and then some years later, PCES Plant Manager Lead.
His desire was to help people so after retirement he made a decision in 2002, went back to school and earned bachelor degree at Andersonville Baptist Seminary as well as a Doctorate in Naturopathy at Trinity College.
While learning he served as an assistant to the leading parasitology Dr. Overman in Millersburg Ohio. He served others, Missionaries, and family in treating them through natural solutions.
He loved the Lord Jesus Christ who was his Best Friend and is with him and Joy who now are waiting for all those who choose to follow.
Family and friends are welcome on Friday from 3-7 pm at Devlin Funeral Home of Cranberry, 2678 Rochester Road, Cranberry Twp. Funeral Services will be held Saturday at 10 am at Sylvania Hills Baptist Church, 567 Pittsburgh Road, Rochester, with Pastor Michael Bailey celebrating. Entombment will follow at Sylvania Hills Memorial Park.
For many years, we have enjoyed chatting with Larry as we walked our Terriers on our neighborhood sidewalks. He and Joy would stop to give our pups a pat and catch up on neighborhood happenings. We will truly miss seeing Larry on his neighborhood walks but hope that he is now reunited with his beloved Joy. Blessed be.
Larry, I never met your father, but you clearly learned your management skills from the best. Life is precious. Thinking of you my friend.
I wish to extend My deepest sympathies to the Mcclain family.
