Katharina Schachner, of Ross Township, born on July 17, 1935 in Tschestelek, Yugoslavia of german descent, died peacefully at Passavant Hospital on April 23, 2020. Beloved daughter of the late Joseph Jost and Anna Wagner (Cyril); Beloved wife of the late Konrad Schachner; Mother of six, Walter (Deborah), Konrad (Joyce), Ingrid Urben (John), Joseph aka Sepp (Sally), Michelle Pekich (Mark), and the late Richard (Jonalyn); Grandmother of Ryan (Natalie), Derek, Joshua (Tina), Jayme, Kurtis, Sean (Tiffany), Karter, Konrad, and Lily; Great Grandmother of Ava, Trenton, Mckenna, and Landon. Kay is also survived by many extended “children ” and “grandchildren,” who she loved and cared for during her life, as well as many loving friends.
Kay was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her brother Matt (surviving Joyce) Jost.
She was a lifetime member of Teutonia Mannerchor, where she was a singer and friend to everyone. Kay was everybody’s “Mutti.” She enjoyed weekends at camp with her family, singing and dancing the “Mutti Shuffle”. She loved to cook for all, including the priests at Assumption Church. In spite of hard times as a Russan starvation camp survivor, she lit up the room with her positive energy and contagious laughter. “Enjoy yourself, it’s later than you think!”

Due to our Nations current pandemic, a private family service was held. A public gathering of family and friends will be held at a later date. Professional arrangements entrusted to Devlin Funeral Home, North Hills.

I’m so sorry to hear with much lateness about Kay’s passing. She was my aunt. Unfortunately I met her only once in lifetime when I was a boy by the age of nine. I still see her smiling and we kids were very proud of our american aunt. May she rest in peace.
We are deeply sorry to hear about the loss of your Mom. She was a dear person-so full of fun and life. The world has lost a special person and we are sending our love.
I only knew Kay 5-6 years but they were all enjoyable years. I met her at Club Julian Water Aerobics, where we all had many many fun times with Kay! Her winning smile and her funny way of appearing late for class will be greatly missed😢. Kay please keep that smile for the angels in heaven 😇 I am writing this from all of us at Water Aerobics. Ron and I enjoyed Kay tremendously and especially loved to make her laugh. She had an infectious laugh! We also loved her stories. She is dearly missed!

We all loved your mom so much! We have so many happy memories with her, from floating on the dock with her at camp to her trying to teach me to make spaetzle when she babysat for Kevin and John. We will miss her smile, her laugh and her dancing.
To Kay’s Family
The world has lost a treasure! I can still hear her voice and laughter ringing in my ears. I know that Kay is busy teaching the angels to sing and dance to Lily Marlene while sporting her black cigarette holder. We are all richer in spirit, joy and love and so very fortunate to have known her!
Deepest sympathy to all of the Schachner family. She was a great woman that will be missed by many but never forgotten. Prayers to all.
SInce becoming a member of the Teutonia Männerchor Kay was staple of the club. She will be missed. Ruhe in Frieden, liebe Kay. Ich möchte mein herzliches Beileid an deine Familie aussprechen.
Kay, you were the light at the club that made Everyone feel welcomed and loved. Alway a great big hug and kiss when ever you walked into the Club. You were always there when needed for any event and made whoever else was helping feel welcomed and love. Thank you for being there always for me when I was the Manager of Teutonia. We have many special memories of Kay. She was always happy, upbeat, funny and an amazing cook. The sibling relationship between Matthias and Katharina was amazing and fun to be a witness to. She put him in his place always. They will continue this relationship I am sure. I am sorry for your loss.
